Eleaf iStick TC 40w 2600mah Kit review

By Shengwei Guan 1 years ago 766 Views No comments

The Eleaf iStick series are a set of well-loved devices. They’re affordable, widely-available, and they pack a lot of power into compact packages. The 40 W version not only offers a substantial amount of power, it also adds temperature control, making it a very appealing option for vapers or smokers looking to get into vape mods.

PACKAGING & DESIGN

The design is much like the 20 and 30 W iSticks, but with curved edges that help it fit comfortably in your hand and being very compact overall. It measures 77.3 mm (~3 inches) by 36.2 mm (~1 and 7/16 inches) by 22.3 mm (7/8 inches), putting it among the smallest box mods you’ll find on the market today.

The bottom and top edges have the micro-USB port and the 510 connection, respectively. There’s also a spot on the top edge for attaching a lanyard, and although I haven’t tried this out, the addition will be undoubtedly appreciated by anybody who likes carrying their mod around their neck or having the extra security of it being attached to a belt loop as well as nestled in your pocket.

OLED DISPLAY

For such a small mod the screen is a decent size, and it’s bright and easy to read. The OLED screen occupies the flattened edge, with the circular fire button and adjustment buttons on either side of it. The top and bottom edges have a metallic color, and the body comes in black, blue, silver or grey. The only branding is “iStick TC40W” written on one of the large faces and the Eleaf logo on the other, both at the bottom and in fairly unassuming text, so the look of the device is generally excellent. The screen’s recessed behind its smoked cover, so it’s not very visible from the side, but if you’re looking at it straight on it’s very clear.

TC 40W ISTICK: A BOX WITH TWO OPERATING MODES

1) Variable Power mode

The classic mode of Variable Power will allow you to operate your box with any resistance to the kanthal. So you can modulate your power of 1 watt to 40 watts in increments of 0,1 watts. The range of acceptance of the resistances goes from 0,15 Ohm to 3,5 Ohm

2) Temperature Control Mode

This one will allow you to use the famous resistances to the nickel (ni-200) or the family Titanium (Ti). The little flaw that can be seen on the TC Istick 40w is that this operating mode is blocked at 40 watts, it is therefore impossible to modulate the power in temperature control mode. On the other hand, as provided by the temperature control, you can obviously adjust the heating temperature of your atomizer to values between 100 ° C and 315 ° C. The range of acceptance of the resistances goes from 0.05 to 1 ohm. Note that this mode seems to have been set up especially to accommodate the "Gs Tank" atomizer.

THE POSITIVE POINTS OF THE ISTICK TC 40W

  • Good value for money
  • A finish to the appointment
  • A solid and discreet box
  • Ease of use
  • Good autonomy for a miniature box
  • Temperature control mode included
  • Notice in French

THE NEGATIVE POINTS OF THE ISTICK TC 40W

  • "Temperature control" mode blocked on 40 watts
  • - Abnormal heating of the box when using Ni200 resistors
  • - Presence of the micro-usb input under the box

So the iStick 40 W TC is a great device in day-to-day use, despite some issues in TC mode, and even with my ever-growing collection of box mods, it still finds its way into my regular rotation.
